YOUR DELAND VETERINARIAN OFFERS PET DENTAL CARE
We all know that it is important to take care of our teeth. But many people do not realize that it is equally as important to take care of their pet’s teeth. Here at Spring Oaks Animal Care Center, we want to ensure that your pet remains as healthy as possible and lives a long life and dental care plays an important role in both.
THE IMPORTANCE OF DENTAL CARE FOR YOUR PET
Dental care plays an important role in your pet’s health and comfort level. Properly caring for your pet’s teeth helps to prevent gum disease, tooth loss and infections. When your pet’s teeth are not properly cared for, they can get gum disease and cavities. Both can cause them pain or discomfort or make it uncomfortable for them to eat or chew. Additionally, just like in human’s pets can get an abscess in their gums and teeth. These abscesses can be extremely painful, cause swelling and can lead to death if the infection travels through the bloodstream and is not treated. At Spring Oaks Animal Care Center, we can perform dental services to help keep your pet’s teeth as healthy as possible, optimizing their health.
WHEN YOUR PET NEEDS PET DENTAL SERVICES
It is recommended that most pets have annual dental examinations starting at the age of six months. Depending on your pet’s age, breed and current dental condition, your pet may need more frequent visits. During an annual visit, your pet’s teeth will be examined, cleaned and dental x-rays are usually taken. If you are not sure how frequently your pet needs to have dental visits, ask us at Spring Oaks Animal Care Center and we can make a recommendation that is right for your pet.
PET DENTAL SERVICES WE OFFER
At Spring Oaks Animal Care Center, we offer many different dental services to help ensure that your pet’s teeth and gums are healthy. Some of the treatments that we offer include dental examinations, teeth cleaning, dental x-rays and tooth extractions. We offer sedation dentistry services when needed, as we know not every pet will allow us to work on their teeth willingly. Lastly, we also treat dental abscesses. If you suspect your pet has a dental abscess, we ask that you bring your pet in as quickly as possible so we can help to treat the abscess.
